I'm sorry one burglar got shot, but I'm glad homeowner Bobby Lee managed to capture all three of them.

Note: Some readers may be confused about why the" Article Source" is listed as WKYT, while clicking on "Read Article" leads to the article (and link to the video interview of the homeowner) on a WYMT webpage.
Both stations are under the same ownership and frequently share news stories, etc. WYMT's webpages are part of the WKYT website.
I'm not sure if all the reporters, staff, etc., who did the story were from WKYT (in Lexington, Kentucky) or some were from the sister station, WYMT (in Hazard, Kentucky). Laurel County is between the two.
Below is a link to the same article on WKYT's homepage.

Why are you sorry about one of the burglars getting shot? Invading someone's home is about as much a justification for getting shot as I can think of and the burglar should be thanking his lucky stars he's not dead instead of just shot.
Nice find by the way!

Call me a softy, drummerboy2011. But I hate for anyone to be injured.
I don't fault the homeowner for defending his home and himself and his daughter, though. And I commend him for only wounding the burglar.

Thanks, drummerboy2011! I hope you're enjoying a great evening, too, and get a wonderful night's rest.

I have to say - these intruders sound like rank amateurs. Didn't any of them have guns themselves? So the one guy just watches the homeowner get off the bed and go to the dresser and load the gun and then thought... "oh,shoot,I'm in big do-do here" - and bang-he's shot. But then -what am I saying - these guys had to be from the bottom of the intelligence barrel to invade someone's home in the first place.

Katheryn Brandy, you make some good points!
Didn't any of them have guns themselves?
Maybe they thought they would face more serious charges if they were armed? Maybe they didn't want to injure anyone? Maybe they had weapons and were too shocked to react?
At any rate, I'm glad the homeowner wasn't injured.

They are not ready for crime time bunglers! I'm glad the owner and his little girl were not hurt either.

I'll be an optimist and say the greatly increased penalties for gun crimes are working.

I hope you're right, MarkD-555. I'm an optimist, too.

Only wounded one? What do you want to bet that that one will sue the homeowner for ruining his criminal career? Its happened before.

John Shriver, indeed strange lawsuits get filed at times.
Perhaps the burglar could even try suing the homeowner for interferring with his right to privacy by being at home during the daytime burglary!
My guess is that the burglars may have thought the home was empty -- or maybe they knew the occupants were asleep during the day and thought they could get in and out without awakening them. But who knows?
Of course filing a suit and winning a suit are two different things.
