They seem to be a wonderful couple who enjoy many common interests!
Below are links to three more articles about them

I was going to seed this but you got there first. Had a lump in my throat reading it. Sooooo lovely:-)

But, were this a homosexual couple, they would be publicly drawn and quartered by the loving, tolerant, humane, "Christian" right.
Hilarious.

I agree with the quote above from your comment #1.1, Soph0571! Thanks!

jameseg, I am disappointed (but not surprised) by your response to the Norman Rockwell-filtered response to this seed, rather than the anti-Christian reality of this seed.
Why do Christians revile and reject the actual teachings of Christ, James?

What the @!$%# are you talking about? A Jewish couple married for 75 years, been together 86 and are a century old? What does this have to do with gay marriage or Christianity? Confused in Yorkshire.

Never Stop Asking Questions, I agree with the quote below from Soph0571's comment #1.5 in reply to your comment #1.4.

Regarding the quote below from your comment #1.4, Never Stop Asking Questions:

There are several possible reasons. But I don't think the topic has anything to do with this article. Please try to stay on topic. Thanks!

Posting such as seed has the hidden agenda of using emotional rhetoric to justify a "de facto" solidification of heterosexual matrimony. It is an inherently judgmental, covert attempt to prevaricate the childish sanctioning of marriage through organized religion (in this case, Christianity).
Soph, you fell for it.
That's what the"@!$%#" I am talking about.
How dare you.
(And, by the way, who the @!$%# do you think that you are?).

Posting such as seed has the hidden agenda. . . .
Never Stop Asking Questions, I appreciate the explanation.
I don't think the writer of the article had a hidden agenda. I am happy for this happy couple and loved the article on its own merits.
I respect your right to disagree, but please do so respectfully.

I think this is more about this couple accomplishing something most of us won't be able to do. They have been a committed couple for 86 years. It's a feel good story that is meant to give us hope despite the reality of escalating divorce rates. As far as homosexual marriages or relationships, I would think this would be just as sweet, no matter what, if any couple could make these claims honestly.

Thank you. I think there needs to be a reminder sometimes that not every thing is meant to be political.

Thank you for this uplifting description of love and marriage. My wife and I both were pleased to read about the Buxtons. We hope all who remain devoted and in love, have such a story to tell late in life as well.

Confer, I do too! I'm glad you and our wife enjoyed it.

Thank you.
You are welcome, Lissa Rose and Confer! Thanks again to you and everyone else for reading and commenting!
This right here is why we need a marriage hall of fame. My wife's Great Grandparents met when they were 15 and 16. They died a year and three days apart at 95 and 96 years old. I think anyone who lives with another person for 80+ years in the world we live in today deserves an award. Especially when you see the average marriage last only 8 years. These people have been together over ten times that and I am truly amazed. I can only hope that my marriage takes this kind of journey.

I agree, Jimmy the Goon! Thanks for the above quote from your comment and the rest of your insights! Your maternal great grandparents seem to have been a special couple, too.

Oh were they ever. She told me that I was a handsome man when I first met her and that Heather did a great job picking out a husband. Funny thing is, she was legally blind. LOL!

It's wonderful she/they coped so well with the blindness! Often people who lack the ability to use one sense more than make it up with their others.

At least one person in this world thought I was handsome. LOL!

Seriously though, living 82 years is a feat in and of itself, especially through the times in which they've lived.82 YEARS together is amazing. Why not a TV show for people like this instead of the marriage of the month from the likes of Kim K. etc.

My husband and I've been married 11 and together for 13 years. That would be another 73 years, and that would make us 103 and 102 respectively to make it. I guess we better eat our veggies and bran every day now. LOL
