An increase in the percentage of young persons practicing sexual abstinence is great! I hope the percentage of teenagers who remain virgins continues increaing in upcoming years.

Below are links to four other articles about this.

I think that nobody should have sex before they are ready . I do not believe in abstinence only, or purity rings. Children should be educated about birth control, disease control and they should be taught about their own bodies, how they work including the sexual and reproductive parts. Burying heads in the sand isn't a good thing. I also, think that part of the problem is we're becoming so addicted to our techno toys.. facebook, social networking, blogging, texting, video games, web surfing that we are losing our desire and ability to relate to other people socially or sexually.

Sorry if I am LOL but I do not believe that. Why do you ask? Well I provide Testing for HIV/AIDs and Sex Education to young people 13 and older. Very few have the facts of how to protect them self. And few practice safe sex. A lot of them do not care who they have sex with. Same sex or opposite sex many of them are doing it. Hopefully when they leave my office they will practice Safe Sex.

Abstinence education is a joke that dose not work and the cost of it is a waist of tax dollars. Give teens the real facts and they will hopefully do the right thing. Just saying NO may make Mon and Dad happy but when there children come home with a STD, HIV/AIDs or a baby they will find out what the kids say and what they are doing are two different thangs.
